2018 KC Cares for Kids Walk

3 Feet High and Fighting

Why We Participate

This will be our 5th year raising funds to support brave kids and their families in the fight against pediatric cancer and blood disorders at Children's Mercy Hospital.

Our daughter Laney was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in August of 2011 and spent the next 15 months in treatment at Children's Mercy Hospital. She underwent 6 rounds of chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, 12 weeks of radiation therapy and 6 months of immunotherapy treatments.

In 2017 Laney celebrated 5 years with no evidence of disease. We are grateful to our family and friends who supported us during these difficult times, and to the staff at Children's Mercy Hospital who helped us. She has now entered the "Survive and Thrive" program and we're excited for her to have reached this milestone!

When we started this team, Laney was only 3 feet tall. Our team's name, 3 Feet High and Fighting was inspired by her fight. Now that she's healthy, Laney has outgrown our team name--literally! However, we're keeping the name while we continue to fight for the littlest patients, to raise awareness and support research for new treatments.

Please help us by joining our team. All it takes is a $10 tax-deductible donation. You don't have to walk to be a part of our team. If you want to support this great cause, please join our team whether you can walk with us or not because you are an important part of the team!
