Why We Care
Micia was a force of nature. She had a zest for life that couldn't be contained or diminished by cancer. She inspired everyone around her to live more, dream bigger and to find joy in the rarest of places.
In 2011, our friend, Micia Amos, left this world quietly but forever leaving an imprint on the ones she left behind. Studying to become an oncology nurse and working at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Micia never quit fighting AML. This year, I want to share her resilience, love and bravery with the world by continuing the fight to end childhood blood cancer. Check out our video and learn a little bit more about why we want you to get involved and join our effort. https://youtu.be/kpap_ZRbCcE. This is our 2nd year fundraising and we have a goal of raising $5,000.
The facts remind us why we keep on pushing.
With your help, we can help make a difference in the lives of children battling pediatric cancer and blood disorders and their families.
Why We Participate
Each year, Children’s Mercy provides comprehensive care to nearly 2,000 children with childhood cancers, sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other blood disorders, with survival rates frequently above national averages.
Children’s Mercy has one of the nation’s largest Child Life programs, making the hospital experience more comfortable for patients and families.
From equipment made for their smaller bodies to unique specialty areas for infants, children and teenagers, everything at Children’s Mercy is designed for children so that we can best serve them at all stages of growth.
