Why We Participate
We participate because Children's Mercy holds a very special place in our family's heart. In October of 2018 our son was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis at the age of 3.5 months. We spent 9 days as an inpatient at CMH. The care our son received while we were there was incredible.
Following his inpatient stay he was diagnosed with profound hearing loss (a direct side effect from the meningitis). He was implanted with cochlear implants in November 2018 and activated in December 2018. Our hearing journey has just begun, but we are so thankful and hopeful for his future. The whole cochlear implant team at CMH is wonderful and committed to providing the best opportunities for their patient's.
Now, we need your help to reach our fundraising goal. It takes all of us to ensure that our community’s children have access to the care they need. Please support our community and Children’s Mercy by making a donation or by joining our team.
