Why We Participate
My fiancé and I have a daughter who has been in the care of Children’s Mercy Hospital since October of last year. She has been diagnosed with a rare diagnosis called CHARGE syndrome. There hasn’t been a lot of research done for this diagnosis, and this fundraiser could help her and a lot of other kids like her who have rare diagnoses. This little girl has touched the heart of so many people just like all kids with rare diagnoses do.
We believe every child deserves access to the most advanced health care available, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. That’s why we’ve joined the Children’s Mercy team…to bring hope, healing and answers to more children and families in our community. By signing up for the KC Cares for Kids Walk, we are choosing to put kids first…supporting research that will push the limits of medicine so we can realize the dream of healthy futures for all children.
Now, we need your help to reach our fundraising goal. It takes all of us to ensure that our community’s children have access to the care they need. Please support our community and Children’s Mercy by making a donation or by joining our team.
Why Children’s Mercy?
More than half a million times each year, a family arrives at Children’s Mercy expecting highly specialized care for their child. With nearly 1,000 active research studies underway and the region’s best team of pediatric doctors and nurses, Children’s Mercy and the Children’s Research Institute are laser-focused on pushing the boundaries of science and medicine, so every child receives a rapid diagnosis, precise treatment and the best possible outcomes.
Children’s Mercy has one of the nation’s largest Child Life programs, making the hospital experience more comfortable for patients and families.
From equipment made for their smaller bodies to unique specialty areas for infants, children and teenagers, everything at Children’s Mercy is designed for children so that we can best serve them at all stages of growth.
